Indulge Your Senses with a Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew

With a variety of businesses and tenants in the GMRENCEN, we all have one thing in common: a love (or need) for coffee.

With so many caffeine boost options on a sluggish Monday afternoon, we’ve found something to brighten your spirits – Starbucks’ Nitro Cold Brew. It’s no secret that this drink has become one of Starbucks’ most popular beverages this summer, but what makes it so special?

This unique drink is typically only served at Reserve or select Starbucks locations, but has been added exclusively to the menu at the Starbucks on the second floor of the GMRENCEN. Besides the convenience of this location, you should grab the Nitro Brew for its unique twist over regular iced coffee.

The Nitro Brew has no contact with hot water, and is steeped for 20 hours in cool water. This process allows a creamy taste to rise and amounts to just five calories and zero grams of sugar per 12-ounce serving. The smooth body of the drink can also be attributed to the drink not having ice and the foam that forms at the top, like a glass of beer, with bubbles that make for a refreshing finish.

According to GMRENCEN Starbucks’ supervisor, Michael, more than 30 percent of customers who visit this location order the Nitro Cold Brew, which launched less than a year ago in Detroit.

To celebrate these new delicious drink options, check out these fun cold brew orders you can try in the GMRENCEN:

Nitro Cold Brew

This new iced coffee creation is only five calories – but offers a natural sweetness to every sip. Its velvety cream taste comes from two hours of steeping, and additional nitrogen infusion. This drink does not come with ice, but has a nice cool temperature to make for a refreshing summer drink.

The Nitro Cold Brew contrasts other iced coffee drinks, because it has a naturally sweet flavor with no syrup added. The sweetness can be attributed to the no-heat, and lengthy, approach to brewing. This drink is also infused with nitrogen which contributes to its sweet, creamy flavor and consistency.

Cold Foam Cascara Nitro Cold Brew

For those of us who love an extra little kick of sweetness – the drink is also offered as the new Cold Foam Cascara Nitro Cold Brew. This variation of the classic Nitro Cold Brew includes cascara infused syrup, that adds a sweet and smooth finish to your average iced coffee. This drink is also straight from the tap, and is known for its subtle brown sugar notes.

Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew

The Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew takes a fun twist on the classic cold brew and includes vanilla sweetener, topped with a home-made vanilla sweet cream to finish this slow-steeped custom blend of coffee. Its sweet taste is the perfect pick-me-up for coffee lovers.

This fun variation of the typical Nitro Brew features an infused sugary bottom to the drink, and adds a sweet kick to the smooth, creamy finish of a Nitro Cold Brew beverage.

What are you waiting for? Head to Starbucks on Level 2 of the GMRENCEN to grab a Nitro Cold Brew today!

National Rosé Day

Pop into a GMRENCEN store to pop open a bottle of rosé! National Rosé Day is around the corner, and the GMRENCEN is ready to celebrate! Pop open a bottle of rosé from your favorite GMRENCEN store on June 9 to take part in the celebration. National Rosé Day is observed annually on the second Saturday in June.

Is Rosé White or Red Wine?

Rosé wines are generally made from red grapes and are versatile wines that can complement many types of food. Most rosé wines are made through maceration, where red grapes are crushed and the juice is left in contact with the skin. However, the skins are only left to soak for a limited amount of time; depending on the desired style of rosé, this can take anywhere between two to 48 hours. The longer the maceration, the darker and more richly flavored the rosé. The juice is then drawn off the skins and fermentation begins.

You can purchase rosé wines that are semi-sparkling or sparkling, along with different intensity levels of sweetness or dryness depending on which grapes are used in the process.

Relax with Rosé

The GMRENCEN has several fabulous patios that you can sit back and relax on with a glass of rosé. Our fine dining locations – Joe Muer and Andiamo Detroit Riverfront – have wonderful patios with sweeping views and delicious rosé wines. Cheers to sitting in the sun with a bottle on Saturday!

Where Can I Buy Rosé in the Building?

Several GMRENCEN stores sell rosé in the building so you can stock up to celebrate.

City Market

City Market, in the Millender Center, has a wide assortment of all kinds of wines! Choose from a variety of brands that all specialize in rosé.

Andrew’s Downtown Detroit

Andrew’s Downtown Detroit market, also in the Millender Center, has several rosé options available. They’re all delicious and Andrew’s prime location is perfect for grabbing a bottle on the go before Saturday rolls around.

CVS has all the rosé you could ever want! As a national chain store, CVS carries popular brands that have tried and true rosé lines. You’ll love any, and all, of the rosé options!

Whichever store you head to, you won’t be disappointed. How are you celebrating National Rosé Day? Let us know in the comments! Cheers!
