Construction for the GM Wintergarden began in March, 1999, and on December 15, 2001, the dramatic 5-story atrium was filled with its first visitors for the Detroit 300 Gala–which celebrated the conclusion of Detroit’s tercentennial. The GM Wintergarden welcomed its first tenant in 2002, and since that time, many exciting events have been held in the beautiful Riverfront entrance of the GM Renaissance Center: Fash Bash, Hob Nob & Gobble, Pitch Detroit, Jazz in the Garden, home for the Super Bowl XL media, and more!

Our GM World space showcases the company’s latest vehicles and provides a year-round auto show experience for visitors. Visitors can get up close and personal with the vehicles and have their questions answered by product specialists. Throughout the year, GM World will feature a rotating, curated display with our current theme being General Motors: Inspired by our past, committed to our future. This highlights some of our key modern and vintage vehicles focusing on electrification, innovation, technology and design. Visitors can also take a tour of the GMRENCEN to gain even more insight into our history and GM World displays.
